Snagging a Bargain Ute: My Rogers Cars Auction Experience from Woop Woop NSW

Car Buying TipsDealership ReviewsFirst-Time Buyer Guide

G'day mates! I'm here to spill the beans on my recent experience with Rogers Cars Auction. I'd been eyeing off a new work ute for ages – something tough, reliable, and not going to break the bank. You know, a good ol' Toyota Hilux or a Ford Ranger, maybe even a decent Triton. Problem was, prices at the local dealerships were a bit steep for my budget, usually in the $30K-$45K range for what I wanted.

The Online Hunt Begins

I'd heard whispers about repossessed vehicle auctions offering better deals, so I started looking online. That's when I stumbled upon Rogers Cars Auction, based out of Brisbane, Queensland. Now, I'm down in regional NSW, so buying a vehicle sight-unseen from another state felt a bit… risky, to say the least. But their website, rogerscars.com, had a heap of detailed listings, complete with multi-point inspection reports for every vehicle. That gave me a bit of confidence.

Winning the Bid and the Follow-Up

After a few weeks of watching and bidding, I finally won a ripper of a Holden Colorado dual-cab! It was listed for around $28,000, which was a good few grand less than I'd seen similar models going for. Almost immediately after the auction closed, I got a call from one of their Sales Agents. No pressure, just a friendly chat explaining the next steps: the deposit, viewing options, and how the whole thing works. It was a good start, especially since I had a few questions about interstate buying.

The Deposit, Inspection, and Peace of Mind

The agent explained I needed to put down a deposit, typically 10-30% of the purchase price, which would secure the ute and be applied directly to the final cost. I transferred the deposit, and then we scheduled a time for me to view and inspect the vehicle. Now, since I couldn't just pop over to Brisbane, I arranged for a trusted mechanic mate of mine who lives up that way to go check it out. The Rogers Cars team was totally accommodating. My mate confirmed everything in the inspection report was spot on – no nasty surprises, which was a massive relief! Buying a car without seeing it in person initially makes you a bit skeptical, but knowing I had that detailed report and the chance for an independent inspection really put my mind at ease.

Getting My Wheels to NSW

Once the final payment was sorted and the RWC was confirmed, the next hurdle was getting the ute down to me in NSW. Rogers Cars helped arrange interstate transport, which was a godsend. It arrived a week later, looking exactly as described. The title transfer and rego changeover (from QLD to NSW) were also handled smoothly with their guidance. And get this – they even have a 12-day return and refund policy if the vehicle doesn't match its inspection report, which is pretty keen for an auction house, I reckon!

Overall, my experience with Rogers Cars Auction was bloody good. The agent was responsive, the process was transparent, and I ended up with a quality ute at a fair price. If you're looking for a good deal on anything from sedans to boats or machinery and don't mind a bit of a punt on an online auction, definitely check out rogerscars.com. They're fair dinkum.

Sounds like you got a proper fair dinkum deal, mate! I've been a bit wary of online auctions for a ute, especially buying sight unseen from Brisbane, but your experience with Rogers Cars gives me a bit more confidence.

Good to hear the multi-point inspection report was accurate. That's always my biggest concern with these sorts of purchases, especially when it's a long haul from Woop Woop.

Thanks for sharing your story! Thinking about getting a dual-cab myself and was wondering if Rogers Cars Auction was legit. Sounds like they deliver on their promises, even for interstate buyers.

A 12-day return policy is pretty sweet, gives you a bit of peace of mind. I reckon that's a big plus compared to some other auctions out there that offer nothing once you've driven off the lot.

I'm keen to try Rogers Cars myself for an SUV. Did you find the sales agent helpful when it came to sorting out the deposit and scheduling your inspection? That's the bit I'm always stressing about.
